What is a modular handrail system and what are they used for?

Modular handrails are safe and easy to put together balusters that are assembled via a simple, no-weld construction method.

Handrails keep workers and people walking on stairs, platforms, walkways, and landings from slipping or falling and hurting themselves. They are made to be strong enough to hold most people's weight, so anyone nearby can use them to hold on if they trip, lean on during a conversation, or keep their balance on a rainy day.

When is a handrail required?

In Australia, at least one side of a stairway or access ramp must have a proper handrail. Australian Standards say that the height of the handrail from the top of the stairs must be more than 865mm. It should be between 900 and 1100 millimetres high from the ground or the surface of the walkway.

When a landing is more than one metre above the ground, a barrier or balustrade is needed to keep people from falling. This barrier, which can also be used as a guardrail, must be at least 1 metre high.

What colours are available for your handrail fence panels?

Doogood modular handrails and components come hot-dip galvanized as standard, however, we offer in-house powder coating services and can powder-coat handrail systems to any colour specified.
